Universidade Federal do Maranhão
The Laboratory of Bees Studies (LEA) was created in 1990 by teachers Patrícia Maia C. de Albuquerque and Márcia Maria C. Rêgo, being part of the Ecology of Bees Communities group, registered in the National Directory of Groups of Research – CNPq. The LEA is part of the Department of Biology of the Universidade Federal do Maranhão, and its members are involved in the undergraduate Biology and postgraduate in Biodiversity and Conservation (PPGBC) and Bionorte (PPG-Bionorte). We have developed research related to several species of bees, social or solitary, in three main lines. The laboratory has a reference collection of bees (LEACOL) registered as a faithful depositary with the CGEN and a Pollen Collection that support the research lines.
