The tenth edition of the European Palaeobotany and Palynology Conference was held in Dublin, Ireland, between 12th and 17th August 2018.
Dr. Cláudia Inês da Silva, RCPol coordinator, attended to the event to represent and disseminate the project to the scientific European community. On August 14th, she performed a presentation entitled “The Online Pollen Catalogue Network (RCPol): subsides to melissopalynology studies”. This presentation was made within the symposium “Melissopalynology Pollen Morphology and Dispersal “. In addition to speaking about the development of the computational tools, their functionalities and the importance of working with the collaborators in a network has been to the development of our database and tools, it was pointed out how the tools and species present in our database can assist in identifying the pollen grains present in honey and in bee nests.
RCPol also participated with the presentation of a poster entitled “The Palynology Applied in Study About Bees-Nectariferous Plants Interaction in a Brazilian Savanna”. This poster is derived from Elisa Pereira Queiroz’s master’s dissertation (former member of RCPol’s technical team), advised by Dr. Cláudia Inês da Silva. Below you can see the summary of the work published in the annals of the event.
Participating in the EPPC 2018 was very interesting to make the network known to researchers from several different countries. RCPol closes this event with new contacts from European, Asian and scientists from other continents interested in becoming partners and collaborating with our work.
