Poaceae is one of the families that occurs in greater variety in the natural fields of Rio Grande do Sul, and several of its taxa are present in human diets (corn, rice, wheat, barley and rye). Although a large variety of species occurs in grasslands, other taxa of this family are present in forests and bogs, so this family has a large representation in different regions of the Estate. For these reasons, the pollen grain from this family has been selected to the development of a virtual model with the objective of favouring the understanding of its dynamics in the environment, based in its characteristics. Swift 3D software was used to build this virtual model. The results show that this software is effective for this task. Through the development of the 3d model we were able to understand in a better way the deposition of the pollen grains on the sediment, once this model allows the visualization of the pollen grain in all angles that are not possible in the microscopy 2D image. Also, we are able to see clearly the small ornamentations, making it easier the understanding of the pollen grain.
