The development of actions for the sustainable management of pollinators and the conservation of its natural habitats is crucial to ensure the “services” of pollination in agricultural ecosystems. However, the success of these actions depends on a good database that identifies the dependence of crops for cross-pollination, the most efficient pollinators for crops, the existence of deficit of pollination services and their causes, and the impact of this deficit in agricultural productivity. In this sense, in order to fill these knowledge gaps, the main objective of the proposal is the development of studies on management and conservation of pollinators and pollination services in landscapes with agricultural matrix, through the making of collaborative and interdisciplinary work plans, integrating different areas of knowledge. These work plans aim to fill gaps in knowledge ranging from the identification of pollination deficit of agricultural crops of economic interest and to identify the main causes of this deficit, the proposition of sustained landscapes and friendly farming practices to pollinators. The data being obtained in these plans has great potential to support the development of policies that combine conservation of biodiversity and ecological processes with potential productive agro-ecosystems, helping in the decision making. It is also the focus of our investigations the development of tools aimed at the translation and dissemination of scientific knowledge and citizen engagement in the production of knowledge.

Among these work plans, some use the palynology as an analysis tool of plant-bee interactions. One of them intends to make a pollen load analysis of Apis mellifera collected in coffee flowers. The second aims to evaluate the effect of forest restoration on the stability of plant-pollinator interaction in Coffea arabica coffee crops, the network will be established through the pollen grain presence in the body of the bee.
